Mary Clark, IMC

Mary Clark has been meeting with people to organize participation by more than 60 vendors for Saturday’s Taste. Great foods, great variety, health and wellness info, and surprises in store.

New Wineskins hosts the Taste, at 4501 W 38th St, in Indianapolis.
Come Saturday 27, 11 am – 3 pm. Admission is $20.00 for family of 4.

Come see portraits I’ve painted? I like W.E.B. DuBois and one of my Dad on his Grandma’s knee. Commission a family heirloom? When lovely fall weather gives way to winter I can paint for you.

Jared Snyder, D.O.

Jared Snyder got the ball rolling for murals on Guion Road when he called the city to ask about painting something under I-65. Several shades of gray rectangles were the featured forms. Painted over graffiti the grey shapes hung like a dreary exhibit, challenging him with, D.R.A.B, as in, “Doctor, Really! Anything’s Better!”

That first day I met Jared, we toured the underside of the interstate highway, I-65. From the meeting at the International Marketplace Coalition headquarters, Julia Moony Moore and Lindsey Lord of the Indianapolis Arts Council took us to see the the walls so grey. Then Jared invited us just around the bend on Guion Road, to see the Healthplex on the campus of Westview Community Hospital.

Wow!  What a gem. The swimming pool shines. Rounded windows flicker in the water as if bouyant hulls float over, carrying light. And tennis courts, (Sandy Pagano was there for a lesson), basketball, squash courts, I’ll skip the track and weight room for the moment, but yoga?? Yes, please.

Thank you, Jared, Leslie and Julia of the Indianapolis Arts Council!
